Brown eyes can turn blue with 20 sec. laser surgery

Surgery in the USA turns brown eye blue
Editora Globo

The doctor Gregg Homer, California (USA), found a way to turn brown eyes to blue. The laser procedure is done and removes the brown pigment, melanin. All this in just 20 seconds.

Once the pigment is removed from the upper layer of the iris, the eye will become slowly from brown to blue over two weeks. The technique is irreversible because the tissue does not regenerate.

However, other eye experts urge caution because destroying eye pigment can cause sight problems if too much light is allowed to enter the pupil.

Stroma Medical, the company set up to commercialise the process, estimates it will take at least 18 months to finish the safety tests.

The procedure currently is undergoing testing. The expectation is that the novelty is available in the U.S. over the next two years. The change is expected to cost U.S. $ 5.000 (around £ 3.107).

is a very interesting concept, after the tests be carried out, and found that causes no problems, it will be nice to those who want to be able to change eye color. I think it interesting that kind of discovery, because people is likely to be as they want and not have had to be.
